DEET is an insect repellent generally used on exposed skin or on clothing, to discourage biting insects.
1. DEET has a broad spectrum of activity, effective as a repellent against mosquitoes
(Culicidae - Mosquitoes (Family)), biting flies, chiggers, fleas and ticks.
2. DEET is available as aerosol products for application to human skin and clothing,
liquid products for application to human skin and clothing, skin lotions, impregnated
materials (e.g. towelettes, wristbands, tablecloths), products registered for use on
animals and products registered for use on surfaces.

DEET (chemical name, N, N-diethyl-meta-toluamide) is the active ingredient in many insect repellent products.
1. It is used to repel biting pests such as mosquitoes and ticks, including ticks that may carry Lyme disease.
