Betulinic acid is a pentacyclic trialkyl compound, which is widely present in nature. It was originally isolated from the bark of evergreen plants of the Rhamnaceae growing in Eastern Africa, but the main source is extracted and purified from the bark of birch . In recent years, scientific research has found that BA is a very valuable natural product. As biological agents, BA and its derivatives have shown great potential in anti-cancer and HIV treatment, and play an important role in the body's anti-oxidative damage and immune regulation process. It is a class of promising drug lead compounds.
