Ferric pyrophosphate is an inorganic salt with the molecular formula Fe4(O7P2)3. It is a yellow to brown powder, odorless, with a slight iron odor. The solution is a white to light yellow emulsion. It is obtained by reacting ferric chloride solution with sodium pyrophosphate solution. Used as an iron fortification agent in food (e.g. milk powder).
